Dear friends, dear comrades,
The Consultative Committee got the year 2025 off to a good start with a very productive meeting on January 8 attended by almost all members. We report on the most important results:We have adopted a call for protests on the day of Trump’s inauguration on January 20, and call on all UF member organizations to express their challenge to Donald Trump with videos,resolutions, rallies, strikes, and posters. Take photos or films of them and send them to the United Front.
The call is attached along with a resolution on the persecution of revolutionary forces in
Peru, and in the next few days further resolutions will be added on the situation in Syria and Gaza. In addition, the United Front has written a letter of protest to the South African government following a report by Marikana (German-South African Friendship Society) on the outrageous inhumane refusal to rescue 700 – 900 miners underground in Stilfontein, South Africa. In the meantime, the international protest has been successful (see attached report), but we will keep a very close eye on the situation and, if necessary, examine the possibility of legal action before the International Criminal Court.
We heard important concentrated reports from the successful delegations to the 50th anniversary of the UNMS in Western Sahara and to Baku for COP 29. There, a large number of contacts were again made for future cooperation.
The decision control showed that all decisions of the last meeting have been implemented. The mail report showed 162 incoming and 150 outgoing mails from our office in the period from November 14, 2024, to January 5, 2025. Thanks to our hard-working staff from the office to the website!
The Consultative Committee took further important decisions for the work in 2025:
Besides January 20, our most important next project is the webinar on February 23 for
International Women’s Day. Here we had agreed to mainly win female speakers from the whole spectrum of the United Front and their friends. Please register quickly, because this time we only want to make ten five-minute introductory contributions to make sure there is still time for discussion. We will decide in the order in which registrations are received. We need all prepared contributions by February 20, which is important for the interpreters.We have already informed you about the plans, now it is decided: The United Front invites a broad spectrum of the peace and anti-imperialist movement to the “Zimmerwald Conference 2.0” against the policy of domestic peace on September 6 in Switzerland (on the 110th anniversary of the first conference and 3.5 years after the beginning of the war in Ukraine). At the next CC the details of the program, thematic blocks, introductory speeches, speakers, invitations, etc. will be
decided. Please send us your suggestions by the beginning of March!
