Ref.: Solidarity for the Immediate Release of the Sumud Flotilla Activists.

We express our unwavering solidarity with the activists from the steering committee of the Sumud Flotilla, aimed at breaking the siege on Gaza, namely Wael Nouar, Ghassen Henchiri, Ghassen Bougdiri, and Nabil Chennoufi, who are presently engaged in an open-ended hunger strike within Tunisian prisons.

 Due to the prolonged hunger strike, Wael Nouar faces a life-threatening medical emergency. Ghassen Henchiri, Ghassen Bougdiri, and Nabil Chennoufi, now without sustenance, are also suffering severe health decline under oppressive detention. These activists are risking their lives in opposition to the illegal blockade of Gaza and in defense of human rights.

Instead of addressing the critical health conditions of these political prisoners or acknowledging the legitimate appeals to lift the siege on Gaza, the Tunisian authorities have intensified their crackdown. Following peaceful solidarity marches, including the large demonstration held on Saturday, September 19, the authorities conducted a comprehensive dawn raid, resulting in the arrest of 15 members of the Support Committee and active participants in the marches.

We strongly condemn this recent wave of arrests and the ongoing criminalization of peaceful protest and humanitarian advocacy. The utilization of state security measures to target individuals expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people constitutes an unacceptable violation of fundamental rights, including the freedoms of assembly, association, and expression.

 Free the Detainees! End the Siege on Gaza! Solidarity with Political Prisoners in Tunisia!
